These terms govern your use of ClearMinutes, an Android application operated by Straits Ventures ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
ClearMinutes records audio on your device, transcribes it using automated speech recognition, and lets you read, search, edit, export and ask questions about the resulting text. It is a note-taking tool. It is not a legal transcription service, a certified record, or a substitute for professional minutes.
You can record your first meeting without an account. After that, an account is required so that your transcripts sync and your plan limits apply consistently. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 13 years old.
Laws governing the recording of conversations vary by country and, in some countries, by state or province. In many places it is unlawful to record a conversation without the consent of some or all participants. You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of ClearMinutes is lawful where you are.
The app shows a consent notice before your first recording and plays an audible tone when recording begins. These are aids, not legal advice, and they do not transfer responsibility to us. We do not verify that consent has been obtained, and we accept no liability arising from your recording of any person.
You may not use ClearMinutes to:
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these rules. Where reasonably possible we will tell you why and give you the opportunity to export your data first.
Your recordings and transcripts are yours. You grant us only the limited licence necessary to store, process and display them so that we can provide the service to you — for example, sending audio to a speech-recognition provider in order to return text to you. That licence ends when you delete the content or close your account.
We do not use your content to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy for how your content is handled.
Automated speech recognition makes mistakes. Accuracy varies with background noise, accents, overlapping speakers, microphone placement, and the language spoken. Speaker labels are estimates and can be wrong, particularly with more than a few participants. AI-generated summaries and answers can omit things or state things the recording does not support.
Do not rely on a ClearMinutes transcript as an authoritative record without checking it against the audio. We make no warranty as to accuracy, and we are not liable for decisions taken in reliance on a transcript or summary.
ClearMinutes is free to download. A Pro subscription unlocks additional capacity and features, with limits published in the app at the point of purchase.

Plan limits exist because transcription has a real per-minute cost. If you exhaust your allowance, recording continues to work and your audio is saved in full — only transcription is deferred until your allowance renews or you upgrade.
We aim to keep the service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Recording works offline; transcription requires a connection and depends on third-party providers. We may change or discontinue features, and will give reasonable notice before removing anything you materially depend on.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data where you have not maintained your own export, or loss arising from transcription inaccuracy. Our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period.
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time via our deletion page or in-app. We may terminate for material breach of these terms. On termination your data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy; export anything you want to keep first.
These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, and the courts of Malaysia have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.
